How we count
From notices on Find a Tender, Contracts Finder and Public Contracts Scotland. Research and consultancy are picked by the notices’ CPV codes, as in our area reports; a tender counts once, and a direct award never counts. A buyer’s spellings are joined by fixed rules and a reviewed list, never by guesswork. Public bodies only: a buyer has a page only when its own notices declare it a public body, and never when they call it a private utility. Sizes are the values notices state, framework ceilings left out; small firms are as Find a Tender’s award notices record them. Values are usually without VAT; “incl. VAT” marks one given only with it. For contracts ending, we use each tender’s latest end date from its award notices, or work it out from the contract’s start date and length. We leave out contracts with neither, and those whose award notice was published before 23 October 2024. Not included: Welsh tenders published only on Sell2Wales (under £30,000; before 24 February 2025, most below the UK-wide thresholds) and Northern Ireland’s below-threshold tenders, published only on eTendersNI. See Data sources for licences and coverage.
